Having three of their players in the Razak Cup side that won the Division Two title has given the Majlis Sukan Pahang side the confidence to face their opponents in the MHF-Milo_NSC Junior Hockey League season that commences this Friday.
The three, Adrizal Ariff Abd Rahim, Zulhan Mazlan and Mohd Hafiz Zainul are expected to be the key players to lead the East Coast sides challenge in the competition.
And with the entire team comprising of players that will carry the challenge of Pahang in Sukma this June, the team is expected to do well as they have benefited by playing in the Kuantan Hockey League recently.
Team Manager Jamaluddin Sura said that the team has been in centralized training over the past three months for Sukma and the participation in the JHL will give the players added exposure in their quest to do well in Sukma.
“We have a balanced team and I am optimistic that the players will do their very best in the competition,” said Jamaluddin.
“While we are in the midst of preparing for Sukma, it does not mean that we are taking our participation in the league lightly as the team has been set with specific targets.
Last year Pahang were represented by SMK Temerloh who finished as Division Two runners-up but failed to make it past the last eight stage in the overall competition.
“Our target is to make the last eight and in order to do that we will have to finish amongst the top three in our division,” said Jamaluddin who is the Vice President of Kuantan HA and council member of the Pahang HA.
Pahang has been noted for producing youngsters with good individual skills, in the likes of Ismail Abu and Mohd Al Fadhil who have gone on to don national colours.
And this time the eyes will be on 17 year old Hafiz , who had a good Razak Cup and is expected to score the goals for Pahang in their quest to do well in the junior league.
